Expert Answers about Chevrolet ATV-UTV Tie Downs

  • Do All 4 UTV Wheels Need to be Strapped Down with Erickson ATV E-Track Tie-Down Kit # EM09160
  • I checked with Erickson and even their pictures show just two of the wheels being secured using the ATV E-Track Tie-Down Kit # EM09160. Basically you want to use all 4 of the chocks meaning you would secure 2 wheels. The rear wheels are recommended. If 1 set does not have the capacity for your UTV then you would need to use an additional set or additional tie downs (see link) to cover the whole weight of the UTV. A set has a safe working load limit of 1,500 pounds and a break strength...

  • Can More Than One Set of Erickson ATV E-Track Tie-Down Kit # EM09160 Be Used for a UTV
  • There is definitely no issue in using 2 sets of the Erickson ATV E-Track Tie-Down Kit # EM09160, one for the back and one for the front, to stabilize your UTV. If you look through the photos that other customers have sent in you can see that some people used one set while others used two. It really is just a matter of preference.

  • Is Weight Capacity of Erickson ATV E-Track Tie-Down Kit # EM09160 Individually or as Pair
  • The 1,500 pound working load limit (WLL) for the Erickson ATV E-Track Tie-Down Kit # EM09160 referenced in your question does refer to the combined capacity of both straps and chocks. Since your UTV weighs close to 2,000 pounds I recommend using two sets to secure all four of its wheels to the trailer.

  • Can I Drive on the Horizontal E-Tracks with an ATV/UTV
  • Yes. The etrailer Horizontal E-Track - Galvanized Steel - 2,000 lbs - 8' Long # e62VR can be driven on without any issue and have a maximum capacity of up to 6000-lbs each(break strength), so they'll be able to handle your ATV/UTV without issue. You can use the Erickson Adjustable Wheel Net with E-Track Fittings - 1,166 lbs # 77314 as your wheel straps if you don't already have some. I've linked some review videos of these parts for you to have a look at.

  • Is The Capacity of the Erickson ATV E-Track Tie-Down Kit Per Tire
  • The Erickson ATV E-Track Tie-Down Kit part # EM09160 has a 1,500 lb weight capacity as a whole. It's not made for vehicles if that's what you were wondering but rather ATVs and UTVs. If you need to secure a vehicle I instead recommend using the Erickson Adjustable Wheel Net part # 77314 which has a capacity of 1,166 lbs per wheel net and attaches to the same e-track system as the above.

  • Straps For Securing an ATV/UTV to Trailer for Towing
  • The Erickson Re-Tractable Ratchet Straps # 34414 are capable of being mounted permanently. These are great straps and the push button retract is a great feature. Unfortunately I do not recommend permanently mounting any material straps as they do deteriorate from UV damage and weather. For your situation I recommend the Pack'em Wheel Tie-Down Kit # PK-WTD. This anchors your UTV at the wheels allowing your suspension to move and not risking damage to the suspension components by overloading...

  • Will Erickson ATV E-Track Tie-Downs EM98CV Be Able To Secure 2006 Kawasaki Mule 3010?
  • Yes, the Erickson ATV E-Track Tie-Downs # EM98CV includes wheels chocks and straps for four wheels and will accommodate vehicles weighing in at 3000lb maximum with tires between 10" and 30" in diameter. Since your 2006 Kawasaki Mule 3010 weighs in right around 1500lbs this would be a perfect option for you. • Backing Plates For The Erickson ATV E-Track Tie-Down Kit
  • Erickson has the spacing for the mounting holes of the # EM09160 before and after the chock at approximately 4-3/8" center to center. Since they unfortunately do not offer a custom backing plate the # e96RR you purchased is going to be the closest option. The elongated front and rear holes are 4-1/2" apart center to center so you could possibly get it to line up straight and fit but you'll likely need to notch either the front or back hole about 1/8" to get the bolts to drop through.

  • Tie-Downs to Secure UTV to Aluminum Trailer
  • Since you have an aluminum trailer I suggest using a tie-down that has a backing plate like # RR5K. This will help reinforce the tie-down since aluminum may not hold up. It would be even better if you can install the tie-downs to the frame of the trailer. This tie-down has a 5,000 pound capacity so that won't be an issue for your UTV. To avoid any oxidation or reaction between the aluminum and steel you should use some sort of gasket material. Pretty much anything that can be cut to...
